The quality of the handmade knives was really outstanding, they are very friendly and nice people, and the prices were great as well. I got a Damascus steel knife with a dear antler handle and im very impressed with the great quality and attention to detail in it. Would definitely recommend if you want a unique and high quality knife.

This was my first visit to Istanbul. After buying a fake knive in the bazaar I found this store . Mohamed was extremely knowledgeable and did not force us to buy anything. This prompted me to look at his collection of handmade knives . Was so impressed I actually bought 6 . He took his time and sharpened all 6 and engraved them . My experience here was one I'll never forget, my first night in Turkey I came across this place and saw an amazing collection of knives, I decided I will check out another knife place (salihoglu knife) And I gotta say that after we went there we immediately came back to this place because of the amazing quality ,not only that but the owner was super nice and respectful, and after you got your knives he will sharpen them Infront of you , my knives are shaving sharp now, I highly recommend and this place is the best place to get knives in Istanbul.

While strolling through the city, we came across this shop and were truly impressed by their collection of handmade knives—absolutely the best we’ve seen. The Bıçakçı İlhan knife shop sits in the shadows of the Galata Tower in Beyoglu. After the long climb up the hill, I popped into the store to see if I could acquire a Damascus steel chef's knife. There was only one available and as I tested the balance, weight, and feel of the handle in my hand, I decided to make the purchase. Throughout, the shop owner and his friend (so sorry to have forgotten their names) spoke about the process of creating the knife, the 130 year history of the family's blade smithing, not to hard sell but just to share that story. The blade itself has undergone multiple forging, folding, hammering until the desired pattern emerges and in the process hardens the blade. The olive wood handle, with burl like grain patterns and colors from olive green, brown and burgundy is absolutely gorgeous and complements the blade very well. I was offered such a great price, I didn't bother to haggle and after I agreed, the owner took it to the back of the shop for final sharpening. He then showed me how to sharpen it with a whetstone. I hope I don't mess it up, but whetstones asre my preferred tool anyway. I bought the knife in October but delayed submitting a review until after a few months' use. The knife is a joy to use, it's a work of art that does a terrific job of slicing, dicing and chopping without much effort due to its sharpness which still holds. Six months later, I used it to carve slices off a steak for dinner last night. Thank you Bıçakçı İlhan for the exquisite experience.

Hand made and amazing quality blades for a really good price. Its a family owned business since the 1800 ts. I bought 3 blades and a machete from them.

I own a catering business. Always looking for good knives. By far this knife is my favorite. He customized one for me with a couple days notice. It holds a sharp edge longer than any of my knives. Update: Just had a friend in Turkey who got a second slightly shorter knife for me. Love it.
